Mississippi River Walk: April 27-May 27, 2026

Welcome to our first Walking Wednesday Wrap!

These past few weeks have been hectic, but as promised, I wanted to share the Musings in Motions progress on our Mississippi River Walking Challenge.

Unfortunately, only my bestie was able to join me for this challenge, but I hope more of you will have the opportunity to virtually walk with us in the future. I will continue to make monthly updates on our progress.

Even though it is just my bestie and me walking, I think it is important to celebrate the number of miles we have covered. Maybe it will inspire others to join us in future virtual walking challenges.

My goal was to walk the 383 miles of the Mississippi River Challenge in 15 weeks (see more here.) I am very happy with my progress, especially since I am ahead of schedule. Thankfully, my knee is holding up. Knock on wood that it stays that way.

Here’s a look at some of the places we have visited so far on our virtual walk along the Mississippi River. We have also learned about the Chippewa National Forest and the birds and fish of the Mississippi.

Postcards from the Mississippi River.

As promised, here is my current walking playlist. I have eclectic taste in music and usually view music as background noise to the story that is my life, so there is a little bit of everything here. Hope you check some of these songs out and add them to your workout playlist.

  • Gut Punch” by Nick Jonas
  • “Never Be the Same” by Camila Cabello
  • “Quarter Life Crisis” by Taylor Bickett
  • “Follow Your Arrow” by Kacey Musgraves
  • “Heaven is a Place” on Earth by Belinda Carlisle
  • “Release Me” by Wilson Phillips
  • “Long Live (Taylor’s Version)” by Taylor Swift
  • “The Handbook” by Macy Nicole
  • “Beating Me Up” by Rachel Platten
  • “When You Say Nothing at All” by Ronan Keating and Alison Krauss

I wanted to congratulate my bestie on completing 143 miles. She is setting quite a pace and is currently ahead of me, which just means I need to step it up. She can’t beat me in my own challenge!!! I asked her if she wanted to share a playlist, but she said a majority of her miles were walked at school, and the only sounds she heard were her students. 😀
