As I shared in my blog post, “The Heart of the Matter: A Blogger’s Wellness Evolution,” a significant part of my wellness journey involves focusing on my emotional, intellectual, physical, and social health. Writing this blog is a big part of that, but so is taking charge of my physical health. As mentioned, I’ve always prioritized caring for others over myself. I’m trying to change that.

Miles Covered
In the months leading up to launching my blog, I began to focus more on my physical health. I started paying attention not just to what I put in my body, but also to how I moved my body. I started with virtual walking challenges (you can read more here) and have added other types of exercise.
It’s been a whirlwind! I have suffered a few setbacks, including a knee injury. Thankfully, I am doing much better now. I have had to learn to mix up my exercises and focus on building overall strength and muscle, especially in my legs, to help with all the walking I’m doing. Like everything else on this journey, it’s a learning process.
So far, I have covered over 2,400 miles, including parts of Scotland, Norway, Germany, the US, and even the world of Harry Potter. I have no intention of stopping! I am getting ready to start a new virtual challenge and would love for this community to join me.

Musings in Motion
I am creating a group, through The Conqueror Virtual Challenges app called Musings in Motion, where we’ll be “Reinventing One Step at a Time” together.
The Conqueror app offers virtual walking challenges that cover different distances. You get to set your own pace. You choose how much you want to walk and how long you want to take to finish the challenge. As you make progress, the app will send updates, including postcards of the places you virtually visit and interesting facts about landmarks and sites along the trail.
You also get to put your miles to good use. With The Conqueror Virtual Challenges, a part of your entrance fee goes towards planting trees or removing plastic from the ocean. When you complete the challenge, you get a medal commemorating your accomplishment. The best part? If you join the group, your fellow Musings can encourage you throughout your journey of reinvention.
We Count All Sorts of Exercise Here
The app connects to multiple fitness trackers, including the Fitbit® Tracker and the Apple Health app. You can also manually add various exercises, such as aerobics, cycling, dancing, grocery shopping, miniature golf, vacuuming, and orienteering. And no, I didn’t know what orienteering was either. But you can go down a rabbit hole like me and discover more here at Orienteering USA 😀
I have no affiliation with The Conqueror Virtual Challenges. It’s just the app that has kept me motivated on this journey. However, I did find a discount code here on their website.

M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-I
So, what challenge will we be walking? The Mississippi River Challenge! This challenge traverses the legendary Deep South waterway, featuring winding river paths, deltas, and the bayou. We will cover 383 miles on our virtual journey. My goal is to complete the challenge in 15 weeks, which translates to approximately 25 miles per week. Please set your own pace, but know I am not afraid of a little healthy competition 😀
To be part of the Musings in Motion please email me at thegalreinventing@galreinventing.com and I will get you all both the invite code and password needed to join the group.
I’ll Meet You at the Starting Line
When will we start? April 27, 2026. But don’t worry, if you miss this date, you can still join our group at any time. I’m sure I will join future challenges. And if you want to walk something different, that’s fine too. We welcome you and will support you on your journey.

Cheer Your Fellow Musings On
Speaking of support, please encourage your fellow Musings in Motion. I want us to enjoy this journey together. I will be doing a monthly “Walking Wednesday Wrap” (I’m all about alliteration!) with updates on my journey, shoutouts to fellow walkers, and even sharing my iTunes playlist. If you want, I’ll share yours too. Music is a great motivator, and I’d love to hear what you listen to during your workouts.
I also encourage you to share your progress on social media using #MusingsInMotion. Please don’t forget to mention the Gal Reinventing as well. I look forward to starting and hope you will join me on the The Mississippi River Challenge! Let’s reinvent together.
