Time for a little check-in. My life has been chaotic lately. I haven’t had much opportunity to create or spend much time on the blog. Honestly, I’m functioning on autopilot. Thankfully, I had content from my recent adventures in Alaska for the blog. I hope you enjoyed catching up on my travels.

I’m a Professional Chaos Coordinator… and I Blog
One reason for all of this is that my life as a substitute teacher (see more here) has exploded! I am not complaining; I need the money, but I unintentionally took on more work than I intended. In October alone, I have 12 sub days planned. My goal was to work 3 or 4 days a month, but that is not what happened.
The good news is I will reach my goal of 30 days before the end of December. My bestie and I were worried that I might have trouble getting teaching jobs, but boy, were we wrong 😀! All those days have certainly thrown my best-laid plans out the window, and I have put some necessary blog items on the back burner for a while. I appreciate the opportunities (all my lovely teachers reading this, keep them coming), but I miss working on creating content.

The substitute jobs will keep me in travel money and baking supplies, which are necessities. It is a lot of hard work. Each class is different, and some of the students are challenging, but I am getting into a rhythm. As for blogging, it has its own challenges, and I am just trying to find a beautiful balance.
I Want to Blame the Subbing, But Its Really Me
All this chaos has caused me to lapse in my walking routine. Injuring my leg last year hasn’t helped either. I’ve been having trouble staying motivated, and walking challenges have become a bit of a drag. I’m starting a new one next week and hope to do a larger challenge in the new year. Maybe some of you will take pity on a poor gal and join me, for some much-needed motivation.

Rein in the Spending
I’ve also been working on tightening the reins on my budget. My bestie and I have two vacations coming up in the spring and summer. This includes a 20-day trip back East in June and July. I am really excited about this one, mainly because I hope my bestie will forget that the second bathroom needs to be remodeled. We certainly can not start that project if we are away. She will read this, so forget I mentioned, bestie! I am still anxious from the last remodel and want to delay a little more 😀.
This Blog Just Might Finish Me
I also need to do a ton of behind-the-scenes work on the website, which I am not looking forward to. It was promised to be easy to use when I started the site, but I didn’t get what I was promised! I’ll probably need time in the new year to get things fixed, and hope I don’t have to take the site offline to do that, but we will see.

I am also thinking about changing how I do some of my posts, especially the recipes. I’ll admit that documenting every step of a recipe has taken the fun out of baking. I’m brainstorming better ways to present recipes sans all the photos, so you may see me testing different styles in the near future. I really want to get back to blogging, baking, and cooking while sharing with all of you. I’m not sure how that will look in the future. My main goal is to quiet my neurodivergent brain and force it to make some decisions. That’s always the hard part!
For now, I’ll continue blogging, substitute teaching, planning a few trips, and figuring out my Halloween costume since I will be in the classroom this year. Never thought I would have to dress up again. Fun times ahead!!!
