Building Community

One of the main reasons I wanted to start this blog was the opportunity to create a community. I am an introverted extrovert (See more in The Heart of the Matter: A Blogger’s Wellness Evolution), which means that I love being social and interacting with people, but I need to control when and how I do it. I dislike large, unfamiliar crowds. Even when I am around people I know, I still feel uncomfortable. I will blend into the background when this happens.

I need meaningful connections with others. However, after social events, I absolutely need time to recharge and to “refill my bucket,” as people say. Blogging will give me the social connections I crave while letting me stay comfortable in my own space. I want to use this blog to engage with all of you, but please remember to always participate in a kind and respectful way, not only with me, but with others.

Turning Stumbling Blocks Into Stepping Stones

I want to use this blog as an opportunity to share new ideas, including my successes and failures, with all of you. This is an opportunity for us to learn from each other and grow together. As a community, I hope we can support and empower one another by sharing our triumphs and failures, and pushing the community to try new things outside our comfort zone. This is also a way for us to keep each other accountable, especially me.

I don’t want this blog to focus only on my job loss. Everyone has moments where things don’t go as planned. Everyone faces setbacks. This blog is about moving forward and exploring new ways to connect with the world and with this community. I want to share my experiences so that when others have doubts or are going through tough times, they can see that there is hope ahead. Life will always hand you stumbling blocks; hopefully, we can turn them into stepping stones.

If nothing else, I hope to bring some laughter into your life so we can all share a chuckle. If this experience has taught me anything, it’s to not take life too seriously. You take what you’ve been given and build on it. Your reinvention may be small or large, but hopefully, we can build a community where we can reinvent together.
